Aurora, CO — For utility safety, the Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League (PEARL) is hosting a two-day classroom and hands-on training program to help electrical technicians learn more about how to inspect and test low- and medium-voltage disconnect switches. The technical training program is part of the 2013 PEARL Electrical Safety, Reliability and Sustainability Conference & Exhibition being held May 18-20 at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans.
Instructed by Kenneth Owens and Jim Miller – experienced and certified technicians from PEARL member Shermco Industries (Irving, TX) – this custom PEARL training course is designed to train electrical technicians how to properly test and inspect low- and medium-voltage disconnect switches using PEARL standards. The program features one day of classroom training covering testing techniques, switch construction, and commonly found operational issues. The second day of the program is highlighted by hands-on training that provides each participant with an opportunity to use the industry’s latest equipment to perform insulation resistance, contact resistance, and functional tests on actual switches.
Technicians will increase their technical knowledge on how these switches operate, along with common defects and issues, testing, fuse configuration, and ratings. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a “Low and Medium Voltage Disconnect Switch Training” certificate and a technical manual covering testing, testing specifications, construction, and other aspects of low and medium voltage switches. All electrical and maintenance technicians attending the 2013 PEARL conference and exhibition are encouraged to advance their skills by participating in this technical training program.
In addition to technical training, PEARL's 16th annual Electrical Safety, Reliability and Sustainability Conference & Exhibition will feature exhibits, educational sessions, receptions, tours, and special industry events.
Exhibitor space for the electrical industry’s preeminent annual safety, reliability, and sustainability event is limited and going fast, so companies interested in showcasing their products and services should act quickly. Special offers are also available for early-bird registration. Interested attendees and exhibitors should contact the PEARL office at (877) 287-3275, send an email to pearl@pearl1.org, or visit www.Pearl1.org. Corporations that join PEARL within 30 days of the end of the conference will have up to 100 percent of their conference registration fee applied toward their first year's PEARL membership.
