Solar generation: Middlebury College began their planning in January of 2012 and have now completed the construction of their home, InSite! The competition begins in late September and all teams are busy now trying to finish their homes so they can be tested then disassembled and shipped to Irvine, CA in time for assembly at the competition site that started September 22, 2013.
In celebration of our 80th Anniversary, HD Electric Company (“HDE”) is proud to sponsor a finalist in the 2013 Solar Decathlon Competition, hosted by the U. S. Department of Energy. HDE is underwriting the electrical system for Middlebury College’s InSite project design.
The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design, build and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team￼that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.
For 80 years, HDE’s mission has been to design and manufacture products to manage and deliver electric power safely and efficiently. As an innovator of solutions for electric power, HDE applauds Team Middlebury and the Department of Energy on this event which inspires new pathways for sustainable living.
