Electrical tools: Greenlee has introduced the Gator Eye - a USB-powered performance accountability tool - for all Gator-brand crimping, cutting, and punching tools, even those manufactured as far back as 1994.
The Gator Eye is a USB-powered diagnostic tool that allows users to connect their Gator tools to Windows-based computers. Using free-to-download software, users can then access detailed work history and view real-time diagnostic information.
“Information is important to our customers,” said Ryan Berg, Product Manager for Termination Tools at Greenlee. “And Gator tools have been recording work history since the first generation models in the 1990’s. We wanted to open up that information so utility companies and electrical contractors can get the most out of their tools.”
The Gator Eye and accompanying, free-to-download software allows users to create operations logs - PDF files that include detailed work information such as operating pressure, number of crimps, battery information, and more.
“This means that contractors and utility companies can do their jobs - and have documentation to prove that their tools performed correctly” added Berg. “It means that users can differentiate their services by providing accountability.”
The Gator Eye can also be used to set maintenance intervals and add user identifiable information, which is useful for inventory management.
The Gator Eye is compatible with all Greenlee Gator tools manufactured from 1994 to present.
