Southern California Edison (SCE) crews are continuing to work to restore service to areas hit hard by high wind conditions.
The utility company said some customers could experience service interruptions into the late evening and morning hours. SCE reminds customers to never approach or touch downed power lines.
Numerous communities across the Southland have been impacted by the high wind conditions, which have resulted in a number of outages. As of 5 p.m. today, 18,628 customers in the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino are experiencing service interruptions due to wind. Riverside County is the hardest hit region with about 10,969 customers without power.
SCE personnel, which include restoration and repair crews, are responding to outages as they are reported. The company is taking steps to ensure that crews are available to respond to outages by moving additional personnel into the affected areas.
An Edison International company, Southern California Edison serves a population of nearly 14 million via 4.9 million customer accounts in a 50,000-square-mile service area within Central, Coastal and Southern California.
