MegaMc 1600

The new McElroy MegaMc 1600 four-jaw fusion machine butt fuses high-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) sizes from 20” to 65”. The four independently controlled jaws each grip with the force of 30,000 lbs, thus gripping and rerounding pipes. When fusing such heavy pipe, the drag force in play is often a point of concern. The new MegaMc packs 88,000 lbs of fusion force to give the operator power in reserve to overcome drag.

Critical components to the fusion process–the facer and the heater–are upgraded in the new model. The facer design has a stronger internal design and is 40% faster than the previous MegaMc design. The heater has an advanced digital heater control that offers better temperature control, as well as an automatic hydraulic heater stripping design that improves open and close times. The MegaMc 1600 can be shipped on most roadways in the United States without permit.

DynaMc HP Series

The new DynaMc Hand Pump (HP) machines provide the power and pressure to butt fuse pipe from 2” IPS to 12” DIPS with a hand-powered pump. The new line consists of three machines–the 28, 250 and 412– each of which is available in two- and four-jaw configurations.

With a detachable easy-lift cradle, the HPs are easily maneuvered into tight spaces. The electric facer included with the machine is sturdy and powerful, with the ability to be loaded from either side of the machine.

The DynaMc HP has many features, including a double-action pump paired with high-velocity cylinders that create faster carriage speeds for critical opens and closes during fusion operations. The work performed on the machine can be documented with McElroy’s DataLogger technology that logs and verifies joint integrity.

PolyHorse with PowerAssist

The McElroy PolyHorse has been helping jobsites handle pipe more efficiently over the last few years. Some of these jobsites have reported back, saying the series of adjustable racks and rollers have boosted their productivity 150%. Now, a new attachment called the PowerAssist can make the PolyHorse even more efficient on your next 3” to 20” jobsite. The hydraulically powered roller is attached to the PolyHorse, taps into the facer lines and helps maneuver the pipe up, down and into the fusion machine. No tools are required to add the PowerAssist.

Homac Storm-Safe

Thomas & Betts’ Homac Storm-Safe is designed to provide a solution to storm damage such as falling branches and debris that often snags utility service entrance cables between the utility distribution pole and the customer’s building or home.

Depending on how the cables fall, they may be energized, causing a safety hazard to the public, emergency response and utility personnel. In addition, the mechanical loads may cause damage to the customer’s facilities or homes that may require costly repairs and time delays in service restoration.

When the service cable is struck, the Storm-Safe breakaway link immediately releases the service mechanical support and disconnects the electrical service. As a result, the service cable comes down de-energized without damage to the utility equipment or customer premises.

Storm-Safe consists of two primary components: a mechanical breakaway link and mating contacts for the electrical service.

The Grundomat pneumatic piercing tool from TT Technologies is an economical, versatile and environmentally friendly tool. The Grundomat uses less air than other pneumatic piercing tools to provide a powerful, accurate bore. High air efficiency means smaller, more fuel-efficient air compressors can be used to power the tool. Also, the trenchless nature of the tool is less disruptive and costly than open cut methods.

In addition, the tool has minimal impact on the environment as it utilizes natural biodegradable lubricants. The Grundomat serves as a complement and, in many cases, an economical alternative to larger, more expensive directional drilling equipment.

The Grundomat is ideal for water, sewer, landscape and irrigation, gas, electrical and plumbing contractors, and FTTH installations. Seventeen models, from 1 ¾” to 7” in diameter, are available for horizontal boring distances from 50’ to 150’.

M-Series Excavator Design Improves Performance, Operator Comfort and Maintenance

Bobcat introduces the new M-Series excavators, re-engineered to deliver increased performance in a lighter machine.

The E32 and E35 M-Series excavators are in the popular 3– to 4–ton weight class. With the M-Series introduction, Bobcat is instituting a new numbering system for excavators. The new machine numbers now correspond to the excavator’s weight in metric tons.

The E32 is a Conventional Tail Swing excavator. The E35 is a Zero Tail Swing excavator. Bobcat designed the M-Series excavators to use X-frame undercarriages.

The E35 features an optional angle blade. Exclusive to Bobcat’s angle blade is the bolt-on replaceable cutting edge.

The E32 and E35 have 33.3 hp engines, dig depths of 10’2” and a dump height of 11’3”. The E32 has a reach at ground level of 16’, and the E35 has a ground-level reach of 16’9”.

DPT40E Puller/Tensioner

The TSE Model DPT40E is a heavy duty drum puller designed for light transmission line stringing. The reel drive incorporates a new electrical drive that allows the operator to infinitely vary the linespeed and linepull for safe, positive control during the pulling operation. The maximum desired linepull can be preset prior to pulling so that the reel drive will stall if a restriction to the line occurs, avoiding damage to the conductor, towers, and hardware. In the tensioning mode, the electric system permits the line to be pulled at a steady and controlled tension with automatic pull back to keep the conductor suspended if the pulling force is reduced. The central operator’s console allows the operator to completely control the pulling operation with optimum visibility of the pulling rope. Operator controls include linepull, linespeed, holding brake, levelwind and engine controls.

Model DPT40E offers a continuous torque rating of 67,300 in. lbs., a continuous linepull rating of 4,000 lbs. (with 6,000 ft. of 5/8” rope on the drum), and 0-2.5 mph linespeed with infinite control.

9-Yard Tandem Axle Configuration Available for Vactor HXX Prodigy Vacuum Excavator

Vactor Manufacturing has announced the availability of a larger debris body for the HXX Prodigy Vacuum Excavator–an optional 9-yard debris tank mounted on a tandem axle chassis. The HXX Prodigy uses vacuum excavation methods to perform non-destructive digging.

Lighter and more compact than the full-sized Vactor HXX HydroExcavator, the HXX Prodigy–both the standard 6-yard configuration and the optional 9-yard configuration–is specifically designed for mobile applications. The HXX Prodigy features an above-deck compressor system that does not need a holding tank to build pressure.

Using hydro-excavation, the HXX Prodigy blasts away soil with jets of 10 to 20 gallons of water per minute, at rates from 1,500 to 2,500 psi, depending on the pump selection, pressure adjustment and nozzle tip configuration. For applications where dry digging is preferred, the HXX Prodigy also comes with an optional air excavation system, further adding to its versatility.
