EUFMC 2008 CONFERENCE PLANS SET
The Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference (EUFMC) has announced details of the many informative presentations that are scheduled to take place during its 55th annual gathering, to be held June 15-18, 2008 at the Williamsburg Lodge and Conference Center in Williamsburg, VA. During EUFMC 2008, presentations by fleet managers, suppliers and other industry experts will address a range of timely topics related to the meeting's theme, "Powering Your Fleet Toward the Future."
The 2008 EUFMC will begin with a keynote address by David G. DeCampli, President of PPL Electric Utilities. DeCampli assumed his current role in April 2007 after serving as the PPL subsidiary's senior vice president of Transmission and Distribution Engineering and Operations. During his long career in the electric utility industry, DeCampli has held numerous engineering and management positions at Exelon Energy Delivery, PECO Energy and Commonwealth Edison.
EUFMC will also feature a very timely presentation called "Biodiesel Fuel Quality, Sustainability and Implementation into Utility Fleets" by Randall von Wedel, Ph.D., founder and Principal Biochemist for BioSolar Group/CytoCulture International, Inc. A consultant to Florida Power & Light, Pacific Gas & Electric and other large biodiesel fleets, von Wedel helps source sustainable feedstock biodiesel, set protective fuel contract specifications and establish fuel quality monitoring programs as fleets proceed with biodiesel implementation. He has also helped establish the first B-20 fleet in California and open the first retail B-100 fuel station in North America with World Energy.
For 2008, EUFMC general session presentations will include:
? Climate Change/Carbon Footprint -- Bill Van Amburg, Senior Vice President, WestStart-CalStart
? Washington Update -- Pat O'Connor, Kent & O'Connor, Inc.
? Data Capture to Drive Fleet Decisions -- Leslie C. Rucker, Jr., National Director Fleet Management Consulting, Maximus, Inc.
? Vehicle Life Cycle Initiatives -- Tom Allen, Manager Fleet Service, First Energy
? Different Life Cycle Costing/Modeling -- Chris Shaffer, Partner, Utilimarc

EUFMC will also feature a panel discussion called "How Fleets Can Utilize Lean Six Sigma" as well as its annual Fleet Manager Idea Exchange, an informative roundtable discussion about best practices for common vehicle, maintenance and management issues.
New for this year is an expanded outdoor Equipment Demonstration and Display designed to meet the need for larger equipment and growing interest in the conference by suppliers of vehicles and equipment for the electric utility industry. An annual highlight of the conference, the showcase has been the site of more than 60 exhibits where fleet managers can meet with over 200 representatives from more than 70 manufacturers and service providers to discuss technology developments.
Growing annually, EUFMC 2008 is expected to set a new attendance record. In 2007, 90 fleet managers from investor-owned electric utilities in the U.S. and Canada, 20% more than in 2006 and including 39 new members, were at the conference. "EUFMC plans are carefully developed to address topics that concern all electric utility fleets," said Rich Mento, Fleet Manager - Electric System at United Illuminating Company and this year's EUFMC President. "The officers and directors survey conference attendees to learn what issues are of greatest interest, and then focus on offering presentations that provide valuable and helpful information."
