WORLD ENERGY LEADERS MEET TO ADDRESS GLOBAL ENERGY CRISIS

United States Senators and Congressmen, Ambassadors of foreign countries, Regulators from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, several state Public Utility Commissions, and CEOs of major energy companies converged in the nation's Capitol on April 29th and 30th to explore solutions to the growing global energy crisis at the National Energy Marketers Association's (NEM's) 11th Annual Global Energy Forum and Membership Meeting.

"We must be strong in our efforts with foreign oil producing nations to stop the nearly one-hundred percent annual price increase in the cost of crude oil, said Craig Goodman, president and CEO of the National's Energy Marketer's Association. "There is an urgent and immediate need to create and implement viable short and long term solutions for the global energy crisis. We must work aggressively with federal and state lawmakers and regulators to implement a consumer-focused, value-driven transition to a reliable, price and technology-competitive retail marketplace for energy, said Goodman, a former high ranking energy and tax policy official in three Presidential Administrations.

Goodman pointed out that sky-rocketing costs of fossil fuels has spawned a global need for renewable that is being met by innovation and invention. One such invention, Xtreme Concentrated Photovoltaics™ (XCPV™) by SUNRGI, a Silicon Valley start-up, was revealed today by Goodman at the Meeting. SUNRGI's new solar energy system will soon make it possible to produce electricity at a wholesale cost of 5-cents per kWh (kilowatt hour), a price that is competitive with the wholesale cost of producing electricity using fossil fuels from coal and a fraction of the current cost of solar energy. "Solar Power at 5 cents per kWh would be a world-changing breakthrough," said Goodman.

"If we are to ward off a recession we will need to explore ways to drive down soaring energy prices," Goodman said. This must include energy choice options for even the smallest U.S. Energy consumers coupled with service and energy technology breakthroughs tailored to satisfy consumer needs.
