FOA Offers New Guide to Fiber Optic Network Design

The Fiber Optic Association, Inc, the professional society of fiber optics, has added a new technical bulletin to its website that offers guidance for those designing fiber optic networks. The document was written for use in training for the new FOA Fiber Optic Design Certification, but will be useful for all contractors, installers, architects and engineers, project managers or others who are involved with projects that include fiber optics.

This 30 page document covers the design process in 15 separate topics from deciding if fiber optics is right for your network through how to design, install and maintain a fiber optic network. The material covers both premises and outside plant networks for almost any application.

The technical bulletin "Designing Fiber Optic Networks" can be downloaded from the FOA Tech Topics website at http://www.thefoa.org/tech.
