ArcPro Arc Hazard Assessment Software
HD Electric Company

As you may know, the 2007 National Electrical Safety Code (NESC ANSI C2-2007, Section 410.A.3) will require that all power distribution utilities perform Arc-Flash assessments by January 1, 2009.

HD’s ArcPro Arc Hazard Assessment Software is designed to aid in the selection of protective clothing by defining the arc hazard for workers who may be accidentally exposed to electrical arcs.

ArcPro provides the user with calculations including heat exposure, total heat flux and heat energy on a surface at various distances from an electric arc. The user can then specify clothing that will withstand the level of predicted arc hazards.

Blackhawk MVS-6 Mobile Video Surveillance
Doosan Infracore Portable Power

Doosan Infracore Portable Power introduces the Blackhawk MVS-6 Mobile Video Surveillance. This security solution allows remote monitoring of jobsites at substantially less cost than employing security manpower.

The Blackhawk MVS-6 uses a self-contained power unit, which employs a standard hybrid power system of solar and diesel technology to ensure six months of uninterrupted remote operation.

The Blackhawk MVS-6 can be remotely operated, using software that connects the user to the system’s day / night imaging camera and a 40GB DVR via a wireless connection. Not only can the operator remotely control the pan/tilt/zoom functions of the camera, but the operator can also access the DVR to review recorded images. An installed motion detector initiates camera operation when movement is detected. The wireless communication system allows for easy networking of multiple Blackhawk MVS-6 units to secure a large area and allows one person to monitor an entire jobsite. The wireless system can also monitor the unit’s power supply.

The 85-watt solar power array continuously charges the system’s three deep cycle batteries. A diesel generator with a 27-gal fuel tank provides power to auxiliary outlets and a standard lighting feature. The generator also provides supplemental battery charging when sun exposure is limited.

New Plug-In Hybrid Digger Derrick
DUECO Inc.,

DUECO Inc., in conjunction with Odyne Corp., is the FIRST to offer a Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) digger derrick. The Derrick PHEV reduces fuel consumption, eliminates onsite engine emissions, and onsite engine noise.

The batteries recharge during off-peak hours using lower-cost electricity but can also recharge at any point, while idling or driving, with the conventional diesel engine. A true hybrid, DUECO’s PHEV is complete with regenerative braking and launch assist to provide additional fuel efficiency, emission enhancements, and extended brake life. These additional features provided by the PHEV offer greater benefits than just an idle reduction system.
