POWERGRID EUROPE – EMPOWERING GRID CONNECTIONS

The European power grid ties together countries, cultures, and various power sources from across the continent.

The European power grid ties together countries, cultures, and various power sources from across the continent. POWERGRID Europe understands the importance of the T&D infrastructure to keep the lights on from London to Athens. To address this need POWERGRID Europe and its co-located sister events POWER-GEN Europe and Renewabale Energy World Europe will be in Milan, Italy on June 3-5 and will discuss the details, technology, regulatory issues and business theories that impact Europe’s electric grid.

POWERGRID Europe is the primary forum where European utility professionals come to discuss T&D challenges of the European transmission and distribution industry. It is the conference and exhibition that brings together transmission and distribution consultants, engineers, managers, technicians, regulators, inventors and innovators.

The show enables engineers and plant managers from different countries to have a single spot to interact as the industry begins the process of joining together to travel the same road.

POWERGRID Europe attendees connect on more than a “plug and play” technical level. The conference offers many opportunities to establish and expand interpersonal industry contacts and knowledge.

POWERGRID Europe will focus on two specific areas: the ever growing popularity of the smart grid ideal and the area of system performance. These are the two things most talked about among grid experts today: how to obtain the vision of a smart grid future and how to make the current system work better until we arrive at that ideal. The first track, “Active Networks and Reflecting the Smart Grid Vision,” features sessions on connecting power markets smoothly; examining network applications; finding communications standards; and adapting technology, operations and grid codes to those standards and applications so that a smart grid can be achieved.

The second track, “System Performance,” examines the people, the equipment and the software we have right now and ways to optimize and adapt those systems as we grow toward a more intelligent interconnection.

Whilst the European dream is of a future full of sustained, green energy, POWERGRID Europe 2008 provides realistic new and improved ways to plug that energy into the grid.
