Slim pen style 650 mm red visible laser diode fault locator for single and multimode fiber. The FO-VFL detects fiber breaks, fiber leaks, stress points and faulty connectors. It features a universal connector accepting any optical connector style with 2.5 mm ferrule such as FC, SC, ST, E2000, and APC.

The LED indicates function status, such as ON and OFF of laser, continuous laser mode, pulse laser mode, and low battery. It includes two 1.5V AAA batteries, cushioned vinyl carrying case, lens cap, and instruction sheet. An additional power button prevents accidentally activating the laser and draining the batteries.

Quickly and easily access fibers in 2, 2.5 and 3mm buffer tubes in a mid-span location without fiber damage. All blades precisely factory mounted in tube slitting channels with no adjustment required by the installer. Tool design incorporates buffer tube size gages on the tool body for ease of selecting proper tube slitting channel. Convenient spring loaded lever opens and closes the tool and lever becomes flush with the top of the tool body when closed.

For use with the following diameter buffer tubes: 2.0mm 1.8-2.2 mm (0.071”- 0.086”); 2.5mm 2.3-2.8 mm (0.090”-0.110”); 3.0mm 2.8-3.2 mm (0.110”- 0.126”)

The FDS Fiber Drop Stripper

The FDS Fiber Drop Stripper from Miller offers a new design for stripping Flat Drop Fiber Cable used in FTTH “Fiber to the Home” applications.

The ONE STEP stripping action removes the jacket in two locations to expose the dielectric strength members and allowing the quick removal of the jacket. The FDS is small and has a lightweight polymer body for ease of use.

The tool easily strips Flat Drop lengths of 2’ -15’ plus. ONE TOOL ONLY-FDS will strip Flat Drop Fiber Cable on the cables.

The MDP-4 Miller Dispensing Pump

MDP-4, Miller Dispensing Pump, is a square HDPE 4 oz (118ml) container providing stability and stainless steel pump. The MDP-4 is for use with Isopropanol for proper cleaning of fiber during the cable preparation. The one handed pump operation frees up user’s hands. Cam-lock hinge keeps lid open and closed to reduce odors.

The pump design with purity protector prevents fluid from reentering the bottle. Each touch of the pump dispenses approximately 2cc of liquid. It is made in the U.S.A. The container is not supplied with liquid.

The FDS-2-3-MM Miller Fiber Drop Stripper & Buffer Tube Slitter is a multi-purpose tool designed for stripping Flat Drop Fiber jacket and accessing 2 mm and 3mm buffer tubes on (FTTH) “Fiber to the Home” applications.

The FDS-2-3MM has three individual stripping channels in one compact tool body for jacket removal and 2 mm and 3mm buffer tube slitting. Its lightweight polymer body and T-bar handle grip are designed for extra ease of jacket stripping.

The FDS tool can be used with Flat Drop Fiber manufacturers.

The FOC-SS Fiber Optic Cleaver

The FOC-SS Fiber Optic Cleaver from Miller, designed for fiber cleaving applications that include field termination of fiber connectors and mechanical splices as well as laboratory applications.

Its small, lightweight and easy to use size features a graduated leaf spring scale, which allows cleave lengths of 5.0 mm to 20.0mm. The “Score and Snap” leaf spring function is easy, fast and the preferred method by many fiber installers. The FOC-SS produces a precise cleave endface angle of less than 2 degrees.

The tool is supplied with a standard carbide cleaning blade capable of over 6,000 consistent cleaves. The FOC-SS cleaving tool, designed for single mode and multimode fiber with cladding O.D. diameter of 125 micron with no operator tool adjustments.

Cleaver and instructions come in a 2.12 oz hard plastic case that measures 5.38 x 3.38 x 1.13 inches.

New Sidewinder Trailer-Mounted F.O. Puller

General Machine Products Company, Inc. (GMP) is pleased to introduce the “Sidewinder” Trailer-Mounted Fiber Optic Puller. The Sidewinder has been designed to exceed the requirements of installing telecommunication cables, employing a single 32” diameter capstan to provide a controlled force to the pulling of rope or tape. The unit can be used as an end-puller, or it can be placed at the mid-point of a section to assist the pull, thus enabling longer pulls to be achieved.

The Sidewinder has a rope/tape take-up drum, which is driven independently by a hydraulic motor. The Sidewinder weighs 1,400 lbs. and is powered by a commercial-grade Honda GX390 gasoline engine which drives fixed displacement, tandem mounted, hydraulic pumps.

The pulling tension is displayed on a dial gauge, allowing the operator to monitor the pull. Tension is adjustable from 0-1100 lbs., with maximum pulling speeds up to 200 feet per minute. The trailer equipment complies with D.O.T. standards, and features a single axle and telescopic jockey wheel.

AFL Telecommunications introduces the LL-400b FDH Fiber Distribution Hub, designed to provide a local convergence point in the OSP environment, housing an optical splitter that links feeder cables from the central office to distribution cables serving customer premises. An alternative solution to the traditional FDH, the LL-400b FDH is smaller and less obstructive, allowing for installation deeper into the FTTH architecture. More economical to deploy, the pedestal is direct-buried, eliminating the cost of digging and pouring concrete, and requiring only one craft person for installation. The FDH features 4-fiber feeder ports, 32-fiber distribution ports, and a SC/APC 50’ loose tube cable.

AFL Telecommunications announces the introduction of the OptiNID OPN-500, an optical demarcation closure designed for use in either indoor or outdoor environments. Smaller to suit FTTH demarcation applications and versatile to suite Cat5 or coax connections, the closure is capable of housing up to six bulkhead adapters in one 118 LGX compatible adapter plate.

Equipped with an integrated splice tray, holding up to six single fusion splices, the OPN-500 can be either wall or pole-mounted for ease of use and accessibility.
