French energy services firm Areva has struck an $89 million deal to supply additional mechanical and electrical equipment for Brazil's 1.35 GW Angra 3 nuclear power project.
In a statement, the Paris-based firm said it will provide diesel engines, electrical appliances and fuel storage equipment for the nuclear power plant in Rio de Janeiro state.
The announcement comes more than a year after Areva signed a $1.48 billion deal for the plant's construction.
Operated by Eletronuclear, a unit of state-run group Eletrobras, Angra 3 is expected to begin operating by 2018.
It will be Brazil's third nuclear power plant alongside the adjacent Angra 1 and Angra 2 facilities.
