Trina Solar to develop 50 MW solar energy project in China

The project is expected to support economic stimulus in a region challenged by semi-desert conditions

Trina Solar, an integrated manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) products, obtained local approval to develop a 50 MW grid-connected solar power plant project in Wuwei, Gansu, China.

The project is expected to support economic stimulus in a region challenged by semi-desert conditions. The Wuwei municipality is suited for solar energy production due to favorable irradiance and the ability to sell off electricity to other regions in addition to supplying local needs.

As early as 2003, Trina Solar completed the construction of 40 standalone power stations in Tibet, providing much needed electricity to the Chamdo region. The central and western regions will be the focus of China's economic and social development in the coming decade. Trina Solar is dedicated to building a reliable energy infrastructure in underdeveloped regions of China.
