Brazilian utility picks eMeter for smart meter data management

ELO is developing a large-scale smart metering solution in response to Brazil's push to replace up to 63 million electric meters in the country by 2021

San Mateo, Calif., April 12, 2011 — Brazilian utility ELO Sistemas Eletronicos has selected eMeter's EnergyIP, an Energy Information Management Platform to address the data management and integration requirements for its end-to-end smart meter solution.

ELO is developing a large-scale smart metering solution in response to Brazil's push to replace up to 63 million electric meters in the country by 2021.

ELO chose to offer a complete smart metering and information management solution for its utility customers to help increase automation, address non-technical loss and improve energy reliability and quality.

A reseller and manufacturer of electric meters with a 40 percent market share in Brazil, ELO realized that a smart meter implementation can only be successful if a scalable and extensible software infrastructure is also put in place to manage the smart meter data and integrate with the utility's core back end systems.

After a thorough evaluation process, ELO selected eMeter as its software partner to address the Brazilian market's requirements.

Founded in 1980, ELO is a metering provider for the South America market. With offices in Brazil and Chile, ELO is a supplier of electronic equipment and systems to the Brazilian and South American electricity supply market. ELO provides integrated product and system packages to utilities to automate processes, such as the collection and treatment of metering data.
