Siemens ships one million RXC single-room controllers using Echelon technology
RXC controllers provide individual room control and monitoring of temperature, ventilation, air conditioning lighting and blinds for public buildings, offices and hotels and ensure optimal energy efficiency
San Jose, Calif., April 21, 2011 — Echelon Corp. announced that its customer, Siemens Building Technologies division has sold one million LonWorks based Desigo RXC single-room controllers for improved building energy management.
RXC controllers provide individual room control and monitoring of temperature, ventilation, air conditioning lighting and blinds for public buildings, offices and hotels and ensure optimal energy efficiency.
One million units, installed in more than 6,000 customer projects: These figures underscore the benefits and quality of the proven Desigo RXC controllers from Siemens. These demand-based single-room controllers are cost-effective and easy to operate.
In conjunction with room operator units, sensors and actuators, the eu.bac-certified RXC controllers allow for high-precision room temperature control. They provide power savings of up to 14 percent over standard controllers and meet the requirements for BACS energy performance class A as defined in EN152332.
Using Echelon's LonWorks technology, RXC controllers are easy to integrate into building automation systems from Siemens and third-party suppliers. This makes it possible to expand and customize the functionality of room solutions to meet project-specific requirements.
Siemens offers a wide range of standard room automation applications for fan coils, radiators, chilled ceilings, etc. In addition, Siemens supplies applications for lighting and shading control.
The Desigo RXC single-room controllers are part of Siemens' Environmental Portfolio. In fiscal year 2010, revenue from the portfolio totaled about $41 billion, making Siemens the world's largest supplier of ecofriendly technologies.
