Newton, Mass., March 6, 2012 — Ambient Corp., a provider of smart grid communications platforms and technologies, announced that it has joined the Wi-Fi Alliance, a global non-profit industry association of hundreds of leading companies devoted to seamless connectivity.

The AmbientSmart Grid Communications Platform supports multiple communications technologies; in addition to Wi-Fi — power line communications, cellular, radio frequency, serial and ethernet can be used for secure, two-way IP-based communications.

The Ambient solution is a single network communications infrastructure that facilitates multiple smart grid applications, in parallel and can use a variety of communications technologies simultaneously.
