Metadigm Services unveils MetaRead meter reading system

Meter data are captured with digital photos on handhelds in the field, and then sent to a secure web portal, where a process of tight-filtering, advanced algorithms are deployed to verify the meter data

Atlanta, January 25, 2012 — Metadigm Services, a utility services company specializing in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) services to utilities, announces MetaRead, a new software application that transforms traditional meter reading and guarantees 100 percent accurate billing and meter data.

“Today, for every 1 million meters read, we discover 13,000 errors, which adds up to an estimated 2 million erroneous reads every month. This could result in a significant loss of revenue and/or additional labor costs for the utility,” said Metadigm CEO Robert Shively. “MetaRead is an engineered solution that can completely eliminate meter data misreads and the need for site re-visits.”

Meter data are captured with digital photos on handhelds in the field, and then sent to a secure web portal, where a process of tight-filtering, advanced algorithms are deployed to verify the meter data.

The digital photos are used as an additional verification step as needed. This process identifies and corrects any erroneous meter reads, and then delivers 100 percent accurate billing records to the utility and the end consumer.
