Rio de Janeiro, September 25, 2012 — Today at the DistribuTECH Brasil conference, Silver Spring Networks, a networking platform and solutions provider for smart energy networks, and eMeter, a Siemens business, announced a partnership to enable joint customers to realize business value through faster deployments and elimination of custom integration costs.
Under this agreement, the two companies will fully integrate and certify eMeter EnergyIP with Silver Spring's UtilityIQ head-end system resulting in a standard adapter that is interoperable out of the box — the eMeter EnergyIP AMI adapter for UtilityIQ. Silver Spring Networks will also be joining the eMeter Alliance Program.
"Silver Spring's open, IPv6-based Smart Energy Platform connects more than 12 million homes and businesses worldwide," said Frank Mong, Senior Director of Global Alliances, Silver Spring Networks. "This agreement allows customers to select this pre-integrated and tested solution knowing it will reduce costs and lower risks while delivering outstanding long-term value."
"We are excited to add Silver Spring Networks to our expanding ecosystem of commercially available, off the shelf, interoperable smart grid solutions," said Shannon Amerman, Vice President Global Alliances at eMeter. "In joining eMeter's Alliance Program, Silver Spring Networks shares our vision of an advanced interoperable smart grid. The framework of our Alliance Program enables our partner's technology and software to leverage the information, features and applications available via our respective platforms, thus bringing innovation, reduced cost of ownership and faster time to value for our mutual customers."
"Silver Spring Networks' web-based, high-volume interfaces enabled us to deliver a highly configurable interoperable solution that meets a wide range of customer requirements while maintaining the scalability necessary to process meter data and perform operational control on millions of smart meters," said David June, AMI Adapter Product Manager at eMeter, A Siemens Business.
