POWER-GEN International counts record attendance in 2012
Power professionals and executives from more than 75 countries gathered for three fast-paced days to hear the latest on technical, political and economic developments impacting the power generation market
POWER-GEN International, the world's largest conference and exhibition for the power generation and public utilities sector, announced a record-breaking attendance of nearly 22,000 attendees and 1,400 exhibitors at last week's event, held December 11-13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Power professionals and executives from more than 75 countries gathered for three fast-paced days to hear the latest on technical, political and economic developments impacting the power generation market.
"We are extremely pleased with the success of POWER-GEN International last week and the co-located events including Renewable Energy World North America Conference & Expo, NUCLEAR POWER International and the Financial Forum. The momentum seen by these four events far underscores the importance of such a platform to the industry and reaffirms dynamic growth in the power generation sector," said Richard Baker, Senior Vice President of PennWell Corp.'s Power Group.
The event launched with a keynote panel addressing "The Challenge Ahead," looking at the future of power generation, several new nuclear power projects underway and advances in the technology to reduce emissions. The keynote speakers included Gordon Gillette, president of Tampa Electric & Peoples Gas; Jon Wellinghoff, chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; E. James Ferland, president and CEO of The Babcock & Wilcox Co.; Paul Browning, president & CEO of Thermal Products; and VADM Dennis V. McGinn (USN, Retired), president of the American Council on Renewable Energy.
The 2012 exhibition showcased 1,400 exhibiting companies across every sector of the power generation industry, displaying the latest products, services and technologies in generation, renewable energy and nuclear power.
Also announced last week in acknowledgement of the 25th anniversary of POWER-GEN in 2013, POWER-GEN International, NUCLEAR POWER International, Renewable Energy World North America Conference & Expo and POWER-GEN Financial Forum will converge in 2013 to formally present POWER GENERATION WEEK, providing exposure to every facet of the generation market — all under one roof. Taking place November 12-14, 2013 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, POWER GENERATION WEEK will feature several new additions to the events, as well as total access registration opportunities for power professionals to benefit from all four events over the three days.
"POWER GENERATION WEEK is an innovative concept we are introducing for the 2013 events in honor of our 25th anniversary. We anticipate that this umbrella platform across the four events will provide even greater access to all that these events have to offer, plus provide new and exciting conference program, exhibit, sponsorship and networking opportunities for our attendees," said Baker. "In our constant effort to listen to the needs of our audience and continue to evolve as the world's largest power generation event, we are excited about this new approach and look forward to sharing our plans for 2013 soon."
