Paris, May 18, 2012 — Alstom and Vietnam Electricity partnered to establish a gas turbine reconditioning workshop in Phu My district in Ba Ria Vung Tau province along the southern coast of Vietnam.

The partnership will be implemented as a joint venture and the corresponding agreement was signed in Hanoi. This will be the first reconditioning workshop in Alstom's network in Asia.

The JV will create more than 140 new jobs for skilled Vietnamese workers and reflects EVN and Alstom's commitment to supporting the national drive for investment and employment in technically advanced industries.

With its prime East Asia location the workshop will recondition latest gas turbine parts demonstrating Alstom commitment to bringing local capabilities to this fast growing region. This collaboration will bring together the latest technology with local expertise and competitive positioning in a major long-term investment in Vietnam and Asia.

Alstom and EVN also signed a memorandum of understanding covering other areas of cooperation. These include the establishment of training programs for EVN engineers and working together to deploy online monitoring of power plants, reducing fuel consumption and improving plant efficiency.

The JV and MoU deepen the relationship between EVN and Alstom spanning more than twenty years, encompassing major hydro projects such as Son La and Huoi Quang, and thermal power plants like the Phu My gas-fired facilities.
