Given its location in the Pacific Northwest, it's no surprise that PGE generates a lot of renewable energy from hydroelectric dams. The utility also derives about 450 MW of wind power from the Biglow Canyon Wind Farm south of the Columbia River in Sherman County, Oregon. PGE offers its renewable energy options to its customers in several flavors. With the Green Source program 100 percent of customer electricity use is offset with hydro, wind and biomass. The Clean Wind program lets customers support new wind construction with a monthly fee. The utility also has a net metering program that helps businesses or homes generate their own power from wind, hydro, solar, fuel-cell technology, biogas or biomass.
