BLACK & VEATCH'S TELECOMMUNICATIONS DIVISION ACHIEVES GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED QUALITY MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION

Black & Veatch, a leading global engineering, construction and consulting company, announced today that its Telecommunications Division has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification.

ISO 9000 is a globally recognized standard for quality management systems that are maintained by the International Organization for Standardization. The 2008 designation is for companies that meet the most current ISO standards.

American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC), a leading energy technologies company, today announced that it has expanded its strategic alliance with Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute (SECRI) and has received a new order for AMSC's high temperature superconductor (HTS) wire. SECRI will use the HTS wire to develop and manufacture a 30-meter-long, 35 kilovolt (kV) cable system. SECRI is the leading research, development and standardization institution for China's wire and cable industry and is one of two centers that test and certify power cables for China.
