Snorkel introduces range of low-level aerial work platforms to American market

Aerial work platform manufacturer Snorkel International is entering the U.S. work platform market with products developed and marketed under the Pop-Up brand.

Orlando, Fla., February 12, 2010—Snorkel International has introduced a new brand of ultra-compact, low-level aerial work platforms to serve the growing American market. The work platforms have been developed and marketed under the Pop-Up brand, which is a widely recognized European name.

Working with Pop-Up Products Ltd, Snorkel and its European operation, UpRight, intend to create the first truly global brand in what they define as low-level access solutions. These are aerial work platforms aimed at the mass market, typically lightweight (well under 1,500 lbs) and low cost (typically $4,000 – $10,000) and either push-around or self-propelled.

Low-level access products have compact dimensions and are used for interior construction and maintenance applications. Pop-Up’s innovative range of push-around scissor lifts deliver the efficiency and safety benefits of aerial work platforms into sectors that were previously reliant on scaffold towers and stepladders.

Snorkel is a manufacturer of aerial work platforms with heights from 12 to 126 feet, used in a wide range of industries from facilities maintenance and estates management to major construction projects. Sales are primarily to the major rental fleets for the construction industry. The Pop-Up range will also be targeted at the much wider market of “mom-and-pop” family-owned rental companies, along with direct sales to contractors and end users who need to work safely at these lower heights.
