Furman University Receives $1.5 Million from Duke Energy to Boost Energy Efficiency

Furman University and Duke Energy have announced a unique partnership to create a demonstration laboratory on the university's campus that will showcase the latest technological advances in energy efficiency and sustainability.

In conjunction with the construction of the new Cliffs Cottage, a Southern Living Showcase Home that will be a model of "green" design, Duke Energy has committed $1.5 million over five years to highlight the company's energy efficiency, Utility of the Future and sustainability initiatives. The immediate area around the Cliffs Cottage will be known as Duke Energy Village.

Spectra Energy Corp President and Chief Executive Officer Fred Fowler will participate in Bank of America's 2007 Energy Conference on November 15 in Key Biscayne, Fla.
