New solutions offer speed, durability and efficiency
From the power plant through transmission and distribution, it is Milwaukee’s goal to improve reliability and productivity for linemen by offering solutions that help increase confidence while on the job.
New power utility knives, storage, and pliers are designed specifically for the challenges associated with maintenance of distribution lines, offering superior speed, durability and efficiency.
Built to survive high-voltage and the extreme conditions linemen face on a daily basis, the new Bucket Light is specifically designed to attach to utility buckets and features dual-rotating heads that provide 2,500 lumens of light.
The Industry’s First Utility Bucket Light
The M18™ LED Utility Bucket Light is built to survive high voltage and the extreme conditions linemen face on a daily basis. Specifically designed to attach to utility buckets, it features dual rotating heads that provide 2,500 lumens of TRUEVIEW™ High Definition light.
The new Lineman’s Hawkbill Knife features a blade that has been designed to stay sharper longer when stripping cable.
“When performing utility line maintenance, finding appropriate temporary lighting is crucial. Up until now, Linemen have had to resort to positioning a large area light or search light on the ground and direct it towards the bucket, and then supplement that with a light on their helmet. This provides an inadequate and inconsistent amount of light, and often results in a great deal of shadows spotting from the ground due to the bucket being in the way of the light,” said Jason Isaacs, senior product manager for Milwaukee Tool. “By developing a light that is fully optimized for utility buckets, we’re helping linemen vastly improve their visibility on the jobsite with high-quality and consistent light that has the versatility to adapt to the work they do.”
Power Utility Knives
The new Lineman’s Hawkbill Knife with STICKWORK™ 3-in-1 Ring features a blade that has been designed to stay sharper longer when stripping cable. The knife’s ring makes it compatible with shotgun and universal style hot sticks. It also provides an easy way to hang the knife for storage. Its oversized handle is designed specifically for comfortable use when wearing utility gloves. A blunt tip version is also available.
The Aerial Oval Bag and Underground Oval Bag feature impact-resistant molded bases and are constructed of 1680D ballistic material for up to 5X more durability.
Wireless Cutting Solution
With the ability to cut up to 1500 MCM copper 15 KV, the new M18™ FORCE LOGIC™ 3" Underground Cable Cutter with Wireless Remote pairs with a wireless remote that allows linemen to distance themselves further from the cut, delivering a smarter and safer way to remote cut.
“Due to the potential for arc flash, linemen cut any potentially live cable remotely. When the situation calls for these types of cuts, linemen have had to use methods such as hydraulic pumps and hot sticks that still maintain a physical connection between the user and the cut zone,” said Paige Bovard, director of product management for Milwaukee Tool. “We’re proud to introduce the most technically advanced underground cutter, creating a safer cutting process for linemen.”
The Canvas Utility Bucket is constructed of reinforced No. 6 double-layered canvas and an impact-resistant molded base for lasting durability and is rated for up to 75 pounds of carrying capacity.
Power Utility Storage
The Aerial Oval Bag and Underground Oval Bag feature impact-resistant molded bases and are constructed of 1680D ballistic material for up to 5X more durability. Each includes puncture-resistant knife pockets and a wide array of additional pockets for various tool and accessories (24 on the Aerial Oval Bag and 14 on the Underground Oval Bag). Nickel-plated brass eyelets and two D-rings provide additional storage options. Built-in weep holes allow for water drainage after extended use. Each also includes top handles for easy transport to and from the job.
The new Underground Cable Cutter pairs with a wireless remote, which allows linemen to distance themselves further from the cut.
