West Virginia regulators approve power plant agreement

The $615 million plant would be located in Moundsville

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) — The Marshall County Commission of Marshall County, West Virginia has approved an agreement for a proposed natural gas-fired power plant.

Under the agreement, the commission would own the 549 MW power plant and lease it back to Moundsville Power to operate. Moundsville Power would pay about $1 million annually to the county over 30 years in lieu of property taxes.

Media outlets report that the commission approved the deal on Tuesday.

The $615 million plant would be located in Moundsville.

Moundville Power chief financial officer Matthew Dorn told the commission that the company plans to begin construction next year.
