Power measurement: Web-based transient detection system
Utility safety: Emerson Network Power's new, Web-based transient detection system protects and monitors critical power.
Energy management: Emerson Network Power, a leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, has introduced the latest addition to its surge protection product family -- the advanced Transient Detection System. This innovative product combines the industry’s premier surge protection technology with a state-of-the-art, Web-based power quality monitor. It's the ideal choice for both protecting and monitoring critical power applications.
The new Emerson Transient Detection System allows users to monitor and track system anomalies such as transients, surges, swells, VTHDs, and features multiple alarm thresholds, including nine preset triggered alarm conditions and the capability for user-modified thresholds. Additionally, the product's monitor measures and records the magnitude and duration of transient events, then dates and time stamps the data for detailed event logging. A multi-port serial and Ethernet connection, and an embedded webpage enable remote or on-site access of all information 24/7.
“The demand for clean power and continual uptime is essential for any business," said Andy Malcolm, vice president and general manager for Emerson's Surge Protection business. "The new advanced Transient Detection System provides our customers with a glimpse into their facility’s electrical system and allows them to not only protect with our premium brand of surge suppression, but understand and proactively address potential power quality problems.”
Surge events can put a facility at risk; understanding the severity, type and timing of an abnormal power quality event enables users to better analyze trends and more effectively manage a facility’s power quality health.
