Energy management: Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, has announced a series of product updates and industry certifications to strengthen its commitment to operational integrity and cybersecurity in the power industry. These updates are announced in conjunction with the company¹s participation at POWER-GEN International, a power industry event that focuses on the latest innovations, ideas and solutions that have formed the industry.

New enhancements to the company’s Foxboro Evo process automation system elevate the safety, security and reliability of its customers’ operations:

• The new Control Network Interface (CNI) offers an industrialized, highly available and embedded method to interconnect multiple systems or segment large systems. This allows for more efficient ways to expand operations, meet compliance mandates and perform maintenance tasks, as well as provides stronger protection against cybersecurity risk and unplanned downtime.

• The new Compact Intelligent Marshalling FBM247 is the latest addition to Schneider Electric’s Compact 200 Series FBM offering of standard 200-series I/O modules in a compact form factor. Its space-saving design and universal I/O software configurability significantly reduce the cost and risk of control system installation, upgrades or expansions for customers.

Furthermore, two recent industry certifications from exida, LLC, an ISASecure ISO 17065 accredited certification body, demonstrate Schneider Electric¹s commitment to maintain operational integrity and security throughout the solution development process:

• Through an accredited test lab, the Schneider Electric Field Control Processor 280 for Schneider Electric’s Foxboro Evo process automation system gained ISASecure Embedded Device Security Assurance certification, which assures that the product is free of known cybersecurity vulnerabilities and robust against network attacks.

• Additionally, Schneider Electric¹s process automation business product development centers in Foxboro, Mass., Worthing, U.K., and Hyderabad, India, were the world’s first to reach an important industry benchmark earning ISASecure Security Development Lifecycle Assurance certification. The first-of-its-kind certificate is based on international cybersecurity standards and was developed to accelerate industry-wide cybersecurity improvement for industrial automation and control systems.

“Security and reliability issues are paramount in critical systems, like the electric grid. Our customers need solutions that are designed to be dependable and circumvent current and future threats,” said Steve Elliott, senior director, Marketing, Schneider Electric. “We are proud to lead the industry in infusing security and resiliency into the entire solution development lifecycle.”

Schneider Electric will be showcasing its latest power industry solutions in booth #6641 at POWER-GEN International from Dec. 8-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, N.V.
