Voltage test lab earns industry accreditation
Voltgard Test Lab at Saf-T-Gard International has recently joined the ranks of the NAIL-accredited labs.
Northbrook, Ill., June 14, 2010—The Voltgard Test Lab at Saf-T-Gard International Inc. has recently joined the ranks of the NAIL-accredited labs. NAIL4PET (North American Independent Laboratories for Protective Equipment Testing) helps develop uniformity in the testing of electrical workers’ personal protective equipment and works in close association with the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). NAIL accredited laboratories are charged to promote service, candor, justice, and the public welfare in safety.
“Saf-T-Gard’s Voltgard test lab has been an industry leader in testing electrical workers’ rubber insulating products for decades,” said Dan McGivern, Saf-T-Gard's v vice president of sales. “Until now we let our customers be the ‘certification’ that we needed. We have always tested to applicable ASTM standards and passed the lab inspections from our customers’ internal safety team. The NAIL4PET accreditation process reaffirmed what we have been doing for decades.”
NAIL4PET accreditation and membership also gives Voltgard the opportunity to network with test lab peers and share best practices. “We look forward to contributing to the NAIL4PET organization, including learning from some of our peers,” said Richard A. Rivkin, Saf-T-Gard's president and CEO.
Voltgard started in the early 1980s as a rubber insulating glove and blanket testing lab. Today, that lab has become the largest independent dielectric test lab in the United States, and Saf-T-Gard’s Voltgard branded electrical safety items, including rubber insulating blankets and leather protector gloves, are cited to be recognized worldwide as products offering unparalleled quality.
