Siemens brings online coal-fired power plant in Germany

The plant can provide power generation for around 1.5 million households and also supplies the city of Lünen with district heating

Siemens commissioned the 750 MW Lunen coal-fired power plant, which went online and has been in continuous operation December 2013. The coal plant is owned by Trianel Kohlkraftwerk Lünen GmbH und Co. KG and was built as a turnkey unit under a consortium arrangement between Siemens and IHI Corp.

According to Siemens, the power plant has almost 46 percent efficiency. The plant can provide power generation for around 1.5 million households and also supplies the city of Lünen with district heating.

The core feature of the plant comprises a model SST5-6000 steam turbine, a model SGen5-3000W generator and the SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and control system.
