Mexican solar power firm Conarmex has fired up in Yucatán state a 324 kW photovoltaic (PV) plant, according to Business News Americas.

The solar power facility was built in Mérida city for snack manufacturer La Lupita and will meet 100 percent of the firm's energy needs, news website Milenio said.

The plant comprises 1,208 solar panels and will cut the firm's carbon emissions by 7,000 tons.

La Lupita, which produces snacks at a 6,750 square meter factory and distributes them across the region, is the first company in Mexico to run its facilities entirely on solar power, Milenio added.

The plant was designed and built by Conermex in conjunction with local firm Electromecánica Mérida.
