The world in going digital and it’s important for businesses and industries to keep up. At Bentley System Inc.’s Year in Infrastructure 2017 Conference, which opened with Media Day in Singapore on Monday, CEO Greg Bentley talked about how digitalization is affecting Bentley’s users and their organizations, as well as his company, a global provider of comprehensive software solutions used to advance infrastructure.
Specifically, Bentley talked about an alliance partnership with Microsoft which has led to the introduction of the company’s SELECT CONNECTservices, a new Microsoft Azure-based tool that delivers comprehensive learning, mobility and collaboration benefits to Bentley’s application subscribers.
“Our application users and their organizations are appropriately making going digital their business priority. In our own business at Bentley Systems, I feel that we should be correspondingly responsible to take full advantage of cloud services to advance applications users’ learning, mobility and collaboration,” Bentley told the audience during the Media Day keynote.
Alberta Granados, Microsoft’s vice president, Asia Pacific, spoke about the company’s decision to become Bentley’s alliance partner and how the two companies will work together to provide enhanced services to Bentley’s subscribers. In addition, he spoke about Microsoft ’s commitment to Azure, its cloud computing service created for building, testing, deploying, and managing applications.
Microsoft is investing heavily in cloud, Granados said. The company’s investment in cloud service covers all parts of the world and is aimed at making sure everyone has access to the cloud, he added.
Greg Bentley spoke during the keynote about several solutions Bentley Systems introduced in the past year that were created to advance infrastructure, including infrastructure used to generate and deliver electricity.
His brother Keith Bentley, Bentley System’s founder and CTO, summed up Bentley’s purpose for its latest developments. Bentley’s goal is to solve problems associated with coordination of information; information that has been created in disparate systems that are used to design, build and maintain infrastructure, he said.
SELECT CONNECTservices is one of many new and enhanced services and tools that will be unveiled this week at the event.
The Year in Infrastructure 2017 Conference runs through Thursday, and includes presentations about electric and water utilities’ projects from around the world. The event ends with the annual Be Inspired reception, dinner and awards ceremony, which recognizes the best real-world projects from around the globe.
