Substation and transmission systems: Tier 1 Utility Design Inc., provider of design and drafting services associated with utility substations and transmission systems, announces national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women's Business Enterprise Council-PA-DE-s-NJ, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

The designation provides some competitive advantage for Tier 1 Utility Design’s experienced team with clients wishing to include additional diversity content in the projects.

Founded in 1997, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) works to certify and recognize businesses owned, controlled and operated by women in the U.S. This national certification places - Tier 1 Utility Design among the few design and drafting services associated with utility infrastructure businesses in the country approved by the United States Small Business Administration’s Women Owned Small Business Federal Contracting Program.

To earn the certification, Tier 1 underwent a detailed process to validate that the company is woman owned, controlled, operated and managed by a woman. From there, the company completed a formal documentation and site visit process administered by a Regional Partner Organization of the WBENC. WBENC certifies women owned businesses in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Southern New Jersey.

By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs.
