Ventyx Solutions contracts for generation, transmission planning in Texas
The Ventyx software adds long-range resource planning analysis capability to nodal electricity market operations
Atlanta, March 28, 2011 — Ventyx, an ABB company, announced a new PowerBase Suite license contract with U.S.-based independent system operator Electric Reliability Council of Texas.
The Ventyx software adds long-range resource planning analysis capability to nodal electricity market operations.
The PowerBase Suite — which includes PROMOD IV, MarketPower and Simulation-Ready Data — will be used for long-range resource planning analysis including: nodal and zonal market price forecasting, ancillary service analysis, intermittent resource analysis and generation expansion and retirement analysis in ERCOT's new nodal market system, operational since December 2010.
In addition to ERCOT, the other six ISOs in the United States use Ventyx analytics software for generation and transmission planning.
"We are extremely proud to be the single provider of analytics software for generation and transmission planning to all ISOs in the U.S.," said Norm Richardson, general manager, Energy Analytics for Ventyx. "Our deep market expertise and extensive nodal market experience with other ISOs have enabled Ventyx to reach this milestone, and we are ready to execute and deliver on a proven model better suited to support ERCOT's advanced nodal market."
ERCOT also recently implemented the Network Manager Market Management System from Ventyx to administer its wholesale power market in the United States.
Ventyx holds the largest market share of worldwide energy analytics solutions users and leads the market in energy operations solutions, providing functionality for scheduling, bidding and settlement of more generation and load than all other competing software solutions combined.
