Siemens to supply Latin American utility Endesa with control systems
Endesa recognized the technological advances of Siemens' Spectrum Power advanced control systems and that some of their current systems need updating
Orlando, Fla., August 29, 2011 — Siemens will implement Spectrum Power advanced control systems for six companies of the Endesa Group in Latin America in Chile, Brazil and Colombia. The client, Endesa, is a private electricity multinational organization in Latin America.
The motivation of the current project with Siemens reflects the desire of Endesa LatAm to transform their systems toward a unique and integrated platform for the group. The project is slated for completion in 2013.
Endesa's objectives for the regional advanced control systems project include providing real-time information and a reliable method to obtain a safer and more efficient operation for the electric power grid, improving quality and operative costs, providing a set of network analyses tools that help the operator with operative decision making, providing historical information that allows analysis of the electric power grid and the elaboration of internal and external reports to corporate and regulating entities.
Further objectives include the ability to optimize response times in order to fulfill or improve quality indicators of service, implement solutions based on best existing practices that leverage existing investments by participating companies (with systems that enable future incorporation of new functionalities), increase integration with other systems that enables investment optimization and create flexible architecture systems to fulfill legal requirements established by regulating entities, such as the technical standards of security and quality of service unique to the needs of each country.
