Basin Electric names next CEO

Serri, 50, will begin his tenure when Ron Harper, Basin's current chief executive officer and general manager, retires at the end of the year

Bismarck, N.D., October 18, 2011 — Basin Electric Power Cooperative Board Chairman, Cliff Gjellstad, announced that Andrew M. Serri has been selected as Basin Electric's next CEO and general manager.

Serri, 50, will begin his tenure when Ron Harper, Basin's current chief executive officer and general manager, retires at the end of the year. Serri is the fourth person to lead Basin since it was formed in 1961.

Serri has been with Ameren Corp. in St. Louis, Mo. for the past eleven years. Since 2005, he has served as president and CEO of Ameren Energy Marketing. Prior to his tenure with Ameren Corp., he was employed with Progress Energy (formerly Carolina Power & Light) in Raleigh, N.C. Before that he was employed with American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio for eighteen years.

Serri was raised in Canton, Ohio and is a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural (Environmental) Engineering. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.

Basin Electric is a consumer-owned, regional cooperative headquartered in Bismarck, N.D. It generates and transmits electricity to 135 member rural electric systems in nine states: Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. These member systems distribute electricity to about 2.8 million consumers.
