DistrubuTECH Brasil takes place Sept. 25-27 at the Rio Centro Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro
Tulsa, Okla., August 15, 2012 — To do our part to keep the utility industry's professionals trained and ready to tackle the problems our industry faces, DistribuTECH Brasil will include a Utility University course.
DistrubuTECH Brasil takes place Sept. 25-27 at the Rio Centro Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro.
DistrubuTECH Brasil is co-located with HydroVision Brasil to provide both hydropower and transmission and distribution professionals with access to the latest information, technologies and trends impacting the future of these growing markets.
Both events will feature comprehensive conference programs focused on technical, business and strategic topics. They will be South America's most important events for connecting with key industry professionals and gaining valuable new insights, ideas and solutions.
Two Utility University courses will be offered. The course titled "Smart Feeders and Smart Control Centers in a Smart Grid World," will cover distribution automation, volt/VAR optimization, fault location, DMS applications and the DA/DMS business case. No matter what your level of knowledge of the utility industry, this Utility University course can bring you up to speed on challenges facing electricity distribution companies and the technologies they use to meet those challenges.
Instructors include Robert Uluski, Mark McGranaghan and Archer Mosse from the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and Professor Nelson Kagan from the University of Sao Paulo.
In the Utility University course on Hydromechanical Equipment, students will discuss the main aspects of safety, major responsibilities in design and selection of equipment, and maintenance and operation of hydromechanical equipment.
The instructors will present lessons learned from accidents, safety guidelines and equipment, recruiting and training engineers and performance of mechanical engineers.
Following instructor lectures, attendees can participate in a round table discussion to discuss issues related to workplace safety, improving performance, establishing guidelines, simplifying maintenance and training professional engineering for hydro projects.
In addition to the Utility University courses, DistribuTECH Brasil and HydroVision Brasil will include 15 conference sessions each. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to visit more than 130 exhibiting companies on both exhibit floors and attend various networking events.
