Pepco executive appointed to GridWise Alliance board

The GridWise Alliance is a coalition of public and private stakeholders that advocates for a smarter grid for the public good

Washington, D.C., October 24, 2012 — GridWise Alliance appointed Karen Lefkowitz, vice president, business transformation with Pepco Holdings to its board of directors for a two-year term.

The GridWise Alliance is a coalition of public and private stakeholders that advocates for a smarter grid for the public good. The alliance facilitates the effective collaboration among stakeholders to promote, educate and advocate for the adoption of innovative smart grid solutions. Its membership includes more than 100 utilities, technology companies, telecommunications companies, equipment manufacturers and academia.

An industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, Lefkowitz is responsible for leading PHI's innovative initiatives to implement business processes and advanced technologies designed to help customers better manage their energy use and costs, improve reliability and customer service and support environmentally friendly programs. She is responsible for the mass deployment of advanced metering infrastructure smart meters and enabling the smart grid throughout the PHI service territory.

Lefkowitz received a bachelor's degree in business administration from The George Washington University and an MBA from Marymount University.
