Regulator Cover Protects Distribution Voltage Regulators

Reliaguard Inc., manufacturer of products to improve powerline protection to prevent animal and bird caused outages, has released a new Reliaguard Voltage Regulator Cover as part of the Reliaguard product line to complement the GreyEEL Conductor Cover and The EEL Slider.

Both three-phase and single-phase regulators have reduced clearances because of their characteristic design and how they are commonly configured. These nominal clearances create a high risk for bird and animal contact. The high cost of replacing a regulator is another reason why it is crucial to protect such an important system asset.

Lightning Arrester Cover Product for the Powerline is Non-flammable

Safety products: Cover-up that is usually included with new arresters often doesn’t provide enough coverage to fully protect the wire connection. In addition, it doesn’t take the stripped conductor (often poly covered) into account to make the connection protected on top of the arrester. According to ArresterWorks (Wildlife Protective Devices for Arresters by Jonathan Woodworth), lightning arrester protection should consider that the higher the voltage, the further the coverage needs to extend.

ARS711 Hydraulic Puller Features Dual Pulling Modes, Tier 4 Final Engine

Condux Tesmec’s ARS711 hydraulic puller is for a wide range of pulling applications including power transmission and distribution cable installation. The ARS711 features a 286 hp, Volvo Penta Tier 4 Diesel Engine, compliant with US EPA Tier 4 Final emissions legislation.

The unit also offers a hydraulic motor with dual displacement positions for two pull settings: high pull mode and high speed mode. In high pull mode, the unit offers a maximum pulling force of 40,000 lbs. at a pulling speed of 1.5 mph, and 20,000 lbs. of pull force at a maximum speed of 2.9 mph. In high speed mode, the ARS711 offers a maximum pulling force of 27,000 lbs. at a pulling speed of 2.0 mph, and 13,500 lbs. of pull force at a maximum speed of 4.0 mph.

The ARS711 is available as a modular unit, allowing greater flexibility for job site transport and set up, while providing the ability for end-user mounting on an existing chassis.

‘No Bolts’ Cleat Is Launched

Utility supplies: ETS Cable Components is part of the development and subsequent launch of a new cleat that requires no traditional fixings to be secured in place. The design also allows for additional cleats to be stacked on top of one another with nothing more than a small turn of a fixing lock.

The concept was driven by an initial discussion with Network Rail who contacted ETS to enlist our help in finding a cable fixing cleat solution to alleviate a critical health and safety issue. Following subsequent design meetings and the continual evolution of the design concept over the last year, the finished product is now ready.

  • No bolts-allowing for rapid installation through a simple ‘turn and lock’ mechanism onto containment
  • Easily stackable-additional cables can be added without disturbing existing installations
