Dominion generates half its energy from zero-carbon sources

The company added more than 200 MW of renewable energy capacity and saw a 33 percent increase in customer participation in Dominion Virginia Power’s Green Power program

Dominion said that half of its electricity output in 2013 came from nuclear and renewable energy sources.

In addition, Dominion’s generation fleet saw a 24 percent reduction in its carbon emissions rate per unit of electric output from 2009 to 2013, according to the company’s seventh Citizenship & Sustainability Report.

The report also said that the company added more than 200 MW of renewable energy capacity and saw a 33 percent increase in customer participation in Dominion Virginia Power’s Green Power program.

Dominion has a portfolio of nearly 23,600 MW of generation, 10,900 miles of natural gas transmission, gathering and storage pipeline and 6,400 miles of electric transmission lines.
