Echelon Electricity Meter Receives Measurement Canada Approval Opens Canadian Market for the World's Most Advanced Electricity Meter

Echelon's NES meter, which includes a built-in, remotely-controllable 200 Amp service disconnect switch and built-in power line networking communications, has been approved for measurement of active (kWh) and reactive (kvarh) energy as well as for use as a bi-directional meter with registers for delivered and received energy — making it the first meter with this combination of advanced features approved for revenue use in the Canadian market.

AlturnaMats, Inc., producer of ground protection mats, announces the acquisition of one of its major competitors, Mobile Matts, Green Bay, WI. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Michael Gierlach, president of AlturnaMats, the integration of AlturnaMats with Mobile Matts comprises the largest ground protection mat manufacturing group in the nation and enables dealers worldwide to offer customers a broad selection of mats. These rugged ground protection mats are used to eliminate damage to lawns and soft terrain due to vehicle traffic in such markets as landscape, construction, tree care, cemetery, well drilling and others. The mats are used to keep heavy vehicles from getting bogged down in mud.
