Truck accessory: Pop & Lock LLC, a provider of tailgate security products, announced the release of their newest product offering for spare tire security, The Spare Shield. The Spare Shield was originally introduced by The Spare Shield LLC, which had successfully sold more than 20,000 units to date since its inception in 2012. Now with exclusive distribution rights, Pop & Lock is making this patented theft deterrent available to end consumers through its worldwide distribution network.

“With Pop & Lock’s strong brand name and success in tailgate security, it was a great opportunity and strategic fit to partner with The Spare Shield. Pop & Lock has been asked for years for a solution to spare tire theft and we are excited to finally bring this product to our customers and end consumers,” says Jacqui Grady, Marketing Manager for Pop & Lock.

Similar to tailgate theft, spare tire theft is dramatically increasing both nationally and internationally. Spare tires are easily removed and many popular vehicles possess a full size spare making it a high value target. As this theft issue continues to rise, victims can be left with a hefty replacement cost exceeding $700 or even worse, stranded roadside without a spare. The impact to auto dealerships and rental companies can be far greater and exceed thousands of dollars due to inventory loss and delayed sales. The Spare Shield is a proven, patented theft deterrent device designed to fit most SUVs, Trucks and Cargo Van models with very simple installation.

Pop & Lock was purchased in 2011 by VSI, Inc. and relocated to Green Bay, WI. VSI has been an industry leader in lock and key services for more than 50 years. Founded in 1948 offering lock and key services in the locksmith industry, VSI began production for automotive and truck locks in 1989 and in 2004 became the primary supplier of vehicle locks to the North American Heavy Truck market. VSI recently was highlighted by the Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest growing private companies in America.
